LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Binghamton (2/3): In a rematch of the 2011 Calder Cup Atlantic Division Semifinals, the Manchester Monarchs conquered the Binghamton Senators and skated away with a 3-2 overtime victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. The Monarchs received goals from left wing Dwight King, right wing Linden Vey and an overtime tally from center Marc-Andre Cliche. The Senators scored goals from left wing Mike Hoffman and forward Jack Downing. Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (14-8-1) earned his 14th victory of the season stopping 30-of-32 shots. Senators netminder Mike McKenna (13-13-0) took his 13th loss of the season making 26 saves on 29 shots. Manchester went 1-for-3 on the power play. Binghamton was 1-for-7 with the man advantage.

@ Bridgeport (2/4): The Manchester Monarchs snapped the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 12-game point-streak with a 3-2 victory at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Monarchs scored goals from center Marc-Andre Cliche, right wing Linden Vey and center Justin Azevedo. Defenseman Ty Wishart and left wing Michael Haley scored for the Sound Tigers. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (13-12-1) earned his 13th victory of the season stopping 18-of-20 shots. Sound Tigers netminder Kevin Poulin (13-13-1) took his 13th loss of the season making 26 saves on 29 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Bridgeport was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (27-20-0-2) are ranked second in the Atlantic Division with 56 points. The St. John's IceCaps (28-12-5-1) are in first place in the division with 62 points. The Worcester Sharks (21-14-4-5) rank third in the division with 51 points. The Portland Pirates

(22-19-2-3) and the Providence Bruins (22-20-2-3) are tied for fourth place in the division with 49 points each.

At the Verizon Wireless Arena this season, Manchester owns a 15-9-0-1 record.

The Monarchs are currently on a three-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven contests.

This season, the Monarchs are 19-5-0-2 in games that have been decided by one goal.

Manchester is 16-11-0-2 against Atlantic Division teams this season.

Manchester is 15-3-0-2 in games when they have led after the first period and 15-0-0-1 when leading after the second period.

When scoring first this season, the Monarchs are 20-6-0-2.

Kozun is third on the team with 12 goals scored.

Kozun's five power play tallies lead the team.

Kozun has tallied a multi-point game in three of his last five contests.

King ranks second on the team with 18 assists.

Right wing Linden Vey (13-13&) is ranked fourth on the Monarchs with 26 points and ranks second in goals with 13 tallies.

Defenseman Patrick Mullen (6-19=25) is fifth on the Monarchs with 25 points.

Mullen leads Monarchs defensemen with six goals, 19 assists and 25 points this season.

Mullen's 19 assists rank first on the team.

Right wing Jordan Nolan (9-12=21) is tied for sixth place on the Monarchs with center Justin Azevedo (9-12=21) with 21 points each.

Nolan's 119 penalty minutes rank second with the Monarchs and is tied for 11th in the league.

Azevedo has four points (2-2=4) in his last three games.

Azevedo is tied for seventh place on the Monarchs all-time assist list (84) and is ranked eighth on the Monarchs all-time points list (137).

Defenseman Thomas Hickey (2-16=18) ranks eighth on the Monarchs in scoring this season with 18 points.

Hickey leads the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-13. Hickey was named to the Eastern Conference Team at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition was Sunday, January 29 which resulted in an 18-10 Western Conference victory. The Western Conference topped the Eastern Conference, 8-7 in a shootout, in the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game on Monday, January 30.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin (4-13=17) is ninth on the Monarchs in scoring with 17 points.

Muzzin has six points (1-5=6) in his last seven games.

Center Robbie Czarnik (5-9=14) is tied with center Andrei Loktionov (3-11=14), defenseman Andrew Campbell (2-12=14) and defenseman David Kolomatis (4-10=14) for 10th place on the Monarchs with 14 points each.

Czarnik has five points (1-4=5) in his last three games. Loktionov was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, November 14 and has recorded four points (0-4=4) and two penalty minutes in 31 games this season.

In 51 career games with the Kings, Loktionov has 11 points (4-7=11) and four penalty minutes.

Campbell ranks fifth on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 271 and has appeared in all 49 games for the Monarchs this season.

Right wing Justin Johnson (1-2=3) is tied with defenseman Slava Voynov (2-1=3) with three points each.

Johnson leads the team and is ninth in the AHL with 121 penalty minutes.

Voynov was recalled to the Kings on November 15. In 33 games with Los Angeles this season, Voynov has 11 points (4-7=11) and eight penalty minutes.

Forward Alex Hudson made his AHL debut in a 3-2 win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, February 4.

Goaltender Martin Jones owns a 13-12-1 record, a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .912 save percentage in 28 games for the Monarchs.

Monarchs netminder Jeff Zatkoff has registered a record of 14-8-1, a 2.16 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage in 27 games.

Zatkoff's .932 save percentage is ranked first in the league and his 2.16 goals-against-average is fifth best in the AHL.

Zatkoff's 3-1 shootout record ranks seventh in the AHL.

Zatkoff has won his last five consecutive starts, a season high for a Monarchs netminder.

Zatkoff was named to the Eastern Conference Team at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition was Sunday, January 29 which resulted in an 18-10 Western Conference victory. The Western Conference topped the Eastern Conference, 8-7 in a shootout, in the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game on Monday, January 30.

Zatkoff made 17 saves on 20 shots during the second period of the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic game.

Pink In The Rink - The Monarchs Care Foundation and the Catholic Medical Center are once again teaming up to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer. Join the Monarchs when they host the Connecticut Whale at 7:00 p.m. on February 11 to support the cause. The night will feature pink ice and specialty pink jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game's conclusion.
