Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club needed a strong finish to the weekend and earned it. After falling 4-3 on Friday night on the road against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the BEARS returned home and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Connecticut Whale. Friday night's offense was led by rookie Garrett Mitchell, Christian Hanson and Tomas Kundratek. Cody Eakin scored the lone tally for the Chocolate and White on Saturday. Facing the Penguins in a rematch on Super Sunday afternoon, the BEARS ignored a shorthanded goal scored against them to start the game and earned strikes from Sean Collins and Chris Bourque to take a 2-1 lead. Down 3-2 in the second, the BEARS got the equalizer on newly-acquired forward Mike Carman's first goal in a HERSHEY sweater. Braden Holtby and the Penguins' Scott Munroe prevented further scoring, sending the game to a shootout. The BEARS, trailing 1-0 in the third round, picked up scores from Eakin and Ryan Potulny, while Holtby stopped four of five to grab the victory. After a road trip to Syracuse on Friday, the BEARS are home against the Worcester Sharks on Saturday and will host the Penguins again next Sunday.
