WEEK IN REVIEW The Monarchs played two-game series' last week against the Florida Everblades and Elmira Jackals, and came out with a 1-2-1-0 record.
Wednesday night, the Monarchs hosted the Everblades for the first time in franchise history, and came out with a 7-3 victory. The Monarchs received four points (2g, 2a) from David Kolomatis, and goals from Quentin Shore, Zac Lynch, Rihards Bukarts, Matt Leitner and Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman. Sam Brittain won the game in goal, his fifth-consecutive win.
The script was flipped Black Friday when the Everblades won, 4-1. Justin Agosta netted the lone Monarchs goal in a game that saw the Everblades leave Manchester with the most points in the Eastern Conference. Brittain suffered his first loss since Nov. 6, and former Monarchs defensemen, Matt MacKenzie and Kevin Raine, made their returns to Manchester as members of the Everblades in the series.
The Monarchs made their way to Elmira for games Saturday and Sunday, and dropped both contests to the struggling Jackals. Saturday night saw the ECHL debut for goaltender, Jonah Imoo, but the rookie couldn't get the win in his first game, and took a 5-3 loss. Derek Arnold, Joey Diamond and LaVallee-Smotherman scored goals, but it wasn't enough to put away the worst team in the ECHL.
Sunday, the Monarchs made an Arnold goal stand for almost 55 minutes before the Jackals tied things up with just under a minute to play in regulation. In overtime, the Jackals were able to beat Brittain to take the game, 2-1, and series.
WHERE WE STAND The Monarchs enter the week tied for the top spot in the North Division with the Adirondack Thunder, as both teams have 24 points in the bank. The two teams are also tied for 2nd in the Eastern Conference, trailing only the Everblades for the top spot.
LEADING THE WAY The Monarchs are led by Joey Diamond and Daniel Ciampini who both have 17 points heading into the week. Diamond leads the team with eight goals, and Ciampini is 2nd on the team with 11 assists, trailing only David Kolomatis who has 12 helpers.
FIRST UP FOR GRABS The Monarchs and Thunder will clash in Glens Falls, N.Y. on Tuesday night with first place in the North Division at stake. So far this season, the Monarchs hold a 2-3-0-1 record against the Thunder, but have had success in Adirondack's barn, winning both games on Thunder home ice. Ty Loney continues to lead the Thunder in scoring, posting 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists in just 17 games this season.
CLIP THE WINGS The Monarchs will host the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time in franchise history over the weekend. The Wings enter the week in last place in the Western Conference with 14 points (6-10-0-2), but have posted a 5-5-0-1 record away from the Wings Event Center. To date, the Wings are led in scoring by Justin Taylor who has recorded 11 points on three goals and eight assists. Last season, the Monarchs took both games against the Wings in Kalamazoo by a combined score of 9-4.
TICKETS The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena on Saturday, Dec. 3 (6 p.m.) when they open a two-game series with the Kalamazoo Wings on Star Wars Night.
