INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Monday that they have recalled four players from the ECHL's Indy Fuel. Forwards Evan Mosey and Bryn Chyzyk, as well as defensemen Nick Mattson and Jonathan Carlsson will all join the IceHogs.
Mosey, 27, recorded three goals in six games played with the Fuel, including two in Indy's 4-3 win over the Atlanta Gladiators on Nov. 19. The native of Downers Grove, Ill. appeared in three AHL games with Rockford this season prior to his reassignment.
Chyzyk, 24, has two assists in nine games played with Indy, both tallied in his Fuel debut on Oct. 29 against the Allen Americans. The University of North Dakota product from Virden, Manitoba has logged a pair of games with the IceHogs earlier in the season, recording five shots and a +1 rating.
Mattson, 25, is set for his first stint with Rockford this season after starting 2016-17 with Indy, recording seven assists in 18 games played. As a rookie, the fellow North Dakota graduate and native of Chanhassen, Minn. split time between the Fuel and IceHogs last year, picking up one goal and six assists in 17 AHL games, in addition to one goal and 14 assists in 48 ECHL contests. A sixth-round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (No. 180 overall), Mattson recorded 78 points (17g, 61a) in 153 career NCAA games with North Dakota.
Carlsson, 28, has suited up in all 18 games for the Fuel this year, leading all Indy defensemen with eight points (1g, 7a). The native of Uppsala, Sweden appeared in 25 contests for the IceHogs in 2015-16, tallying two goals and seven assists, before adding a goal in a pair of Calder Cup Playoff appearances. A 2008 sixth-round pick of the Blackhawks (No. #162 overall), Carlsson has 10 points (3g, 7a) in 44 career AHL games, which includes a stint with the IceHogs in 2009-10.
