
Gladiators Acquire Former Kelly Cup Champion

DULUTH, Ga. - The Atlanta Gladiators announced Monday that they have acquired defenseman Corey Syvret from the Florida Everblades in a three team deal that sends Blake Kessel to the Kalamazoo Wings.
Syvret, 27, brings 294 games of professional hockey experience to Atlanta which includes 18 appearances in the AHL. While a member of the Alaska Aces in 2013-14, the former 6th Round pick (181st overall) of the Florida Panthers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft helped the team to the ECHL Brabham Cup as the league's regular season champion and Kelly Cup title. The Millgrove, ON native has skated in 40 career playoff games as a pro where he has posted 12 points and a plus-7 rating. Over the course of his ECHL career with Kalamazoo, Trenton, Alaska and Florida, the 6-foot, 184-pound veteran has registered 92 points and plus-13 rating in 276 games played.
To complete the three team trade, Atlanta sends defenseman Blake Kessel to Kalamazoo while the Florida Everblades get Adam Brace from the K-Wings. Syvret is en route to Atlanta and is expected to be in the lineup for the South Division battle with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at home on Wednesday evening.
