Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, will honor fallen MIT Police Officer Sean Collier at the team's annual American Pride Day game when they host the Providence Bruins at 3:00 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, March 8, Monarchs President Darren Abbott announced on Thursday.

Officer Collier was killed in the line of duty on April 18, 2013 by the two suspects behind the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon.

The MIT Police Department and MIT community partnered with the Monarchs to raise funds for the Collier Police Academy Fund, and will attend Saturday's game in celebration of the Officer Collier's life. In addition, Officer Collier's father, Allen Collier, and his sister, Nicole Lynch, will participate in a pregame ceremonial puck drop on Saturday. The Monarchs will also pay tribute to Officer Collier during the first intermission of the game with a five minute tribute video.

"Officer Collier gave his life while protecting so many," said Abbott. "We are honored to have his family and fellow officers in attendance as we honor, not only Officer Collier, but all who protect us."

In addition to honoring Officer Collier, the Monarchs will say thank you to all members of the armed forces, police, fire and EMT personnel in New Hampshire for their service and bravery. Following the game, fans will be treated to a patriotic themed indoor fireworks show.

The Monarchs will return home to the Verizon Wireless Arena for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Adirondack Phantoms on Friday, March 7. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on Monarchs Radio Network WGIR AM 610, WGIRAM.com, and at manchestermonarchs.com presented by Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
