March 4 - Matt Mangene (F) Traded to NY Islanders organization

March 4 - Cal Heeter (G) Recalled by Philadelphia on emergency basis

Good luck to Matt Mangene who now joins a new team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The second-year pro out of the University of Maine was part of a Tuesday trade for NHL defenseman Andrew MacDonald. We'll have a quick reunion with Mangene as the Phantoms travel to Bridgeport for a game next weekend on March 16.

Cal Heeter is helping in Philadelphia this week while Ray Emery continues to sit-out with a lower-body injury that is described as "day-to-day." Heeter is serving as back-up to Steve Mason. The second-year pro from St. Louis has yet to make his official Philadelphia debut in a game but is gaining valuable experience at the NHL level with his opportunity to stay with the team.

The next night, he forced overtime in completing a late three-goal comeback when he tied the game with just two minutes to go. And on Sunday he tacked on another in a home win over Syracuse.

Last Week

Friday, February 28: Adirondack Phantoms 3 - Utica Comets 2

The Phantoms triumphed in their first ever visit to the Memorial Auditorium in Utica on a late game-winner by Tye McGinn. His tie-breaker with 2:58 remaining was one of two goals on the game for McGinn while Rob Bordson registered the team's other tally for the win against the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. The game was McGinn's second multi-goal performance of the season. Adirondack never trailed in the game. Yann Danis posted a nice 27-save performance for the win as the Phantoms improved to 2-0 against the Comets this year.

Saturday, March 1: Syracuse Crunch 5 - Adirondack Phantoms 4 (OT)

Down but not out; The Phantoms rattled off three straight goals in the third period to overcome a 4-1 deficit but eventually only took the one standings point in a 5-4 overtime loss at the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday. Syracuse scored three goals in the second period in taking a 4-1 lead before the Phantoms would score three of their own in the final frame.

Kyle Flanagan sparked the comeback with 11:17 remaining on his power-play goal but the Phantoms were still down by two in the final minutes. Mark Alt's drive snuck through with 2:50 to go making it a 4-3 game and then just 51 seconds later, Tye McGinn came through as Mr. Clutch for the second game in a row when he tied the game with just 1:59 remaining. Syracuse eventually won with a 4-on-3 power-play goal by Richard Panik. Dana Tyrell led the Crunch with two goals. Yann Danis allowed five goals in the overtime loss but made 32 stop including a number of beauties in giving the Phantoms the chance for the big comeback.

Sunday, March 2: Adirondack Phantoms 3 - Syracuse Crunch 0

Yann Danis posted his 19th career professional shutout including his first ever at the Glens Falls Civic Center in a 19-save performance as the Phantoms successfully closed out their five-point weekend. Danis notched his second shutout of the season and his 16th all-time in the AHL to go along with thre blankings at the NHL level. Bruno Gervais, Tye McGinn and Mike Matczak all scored for Adirondack. For McGinn, his fourth goal of the weekend was a tip of a Brandon Manning drive from center-point. For Matczak late in the third-period, the defenseman out of Yale University scored as a Phantoms for the first time ever with his third career AHL goal. The players came back out to the ice after the game to celebrate their victory with the fans in the team's Postgame Skate with the Players.

The Monarchs were swept in a two-game series at Norfolk last week by scores of 3-2 and 4-1.

Adirondack's last visit to New Hampshire was November 14, 2012 for a morning-start Kids' Day game last season in which Brayden Schenn registered his second career hat trick in a Phantoms 4-1 win.

Last Meeting - January 20, SPR 4 - ADK 1

Top Scorers - Carter Camper (8-24-32), Tim Erixon (5-26-31), Michael Chaput (15-14-29)

Info - The Columbus Blue Jackets have a different look since the last time the Phantoms played them six weeks ago. Springfield top-gun Jonathon Marchessault (14-27-41) is off to the Syracuse Crunch as is Dalton Smith in a deadline deal between the Blue Jackets and Lightning organizations. Carter Camper has joined the team from the Providence Bruins while defenseman Blake Parlett headed out a couple weeks ago.

Springfield had lost three straight before squeaking out a 2-1 win at Worcester on Sunday. Springfield has just three wins in their last nine games. The Falcons were flying high early in the season and had just four regulation losses at the Holiday Break boasting a gaudy 20-4-3 record for a win percentage of almost .800, best in the AHL. Since then, they have gone a far less impressive 14-13-3 but they still own a seven-point lead over the Albany Devils to pace the Northeast Division.

Providence Bruins (31-20-7, 69 points) - Affiliation, Boston Bruins

Sunday, March 9 (4:05) - Dunkin Donuts Center, Providence, RI

Standings - 6th place, Eastern Conference

Top Scorers - Nick Johnson (17-21-38), Alexander Khokhlachev (15-22-37), Craig Cunningham (21-15-36)

Info - Niklas Svedberg has suffered a mild sophomore slump after winning Top Goalie honors in the AHL last year with more human-looking numbers of 20-12-3, 2.75, .908. The Swedish goalie went 37-8-2, 2.17, .925 in his impressive rookie campaign on 2012-13.

The Bruins are embroiled in a heated Eastern Conference playoff battle in which 4th through 9th are separated by just seven points. Providence is smack-dab in the middle of all that with 69 points for 6th place. The Bruins won back-to-back shootout games last weekend over Springfield and Albany to bounce-back from a weekend-opening defeat at Bridgeport on Friday. Providence is 10-5-0 in their last 15 games since January 31 and are one of the highest scoring teams in the AHL ranking 5th out of 30 with 3.14 goals per game.

25 Terrific Seasons

Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
