
Anaheim Acquires Petersson

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced yesterday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has traded defenseman Alex Grant to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for right wing Andre Petersson.
Petersson, 23, scored 17 goals and helped on 23 more for a total of 40 points this season with a +12 rating and 28 penalty minutes in 47 games with Binghamton of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Olofstrom, Sweden native tied for third among team leaders in scoring and goals at the time of his departure.
Selected by Ottawa in the fourth round (109th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Petersson debuted with Ottawa on Jan. 21, 2012 at Anaheim, going scoreless in a 2-1 loss. Petersson participated in 124 career AHL games with Binghamton so far, recording 42 goals and 47 assists. He represented Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship, winning silver in 2009 and bronze the following year.
The 25-year-old Grant scored twice in as many games with a +3 rating for the Ducks this season. He began the year with Norfolk and put up 7-2027 points with a +1 rating and 46 PIM in 52 games. The 6-4, 205-pound defenseman ranked third on Norfolk in assists and led the club's defensemen in scoring, goals and assists.
Acquired from Pittsburgh in exchange for left wing Harry Zolnierczyk back in June of 2013, Grant's scored 24 goals and 65 assists along with a +9 rating and 220 PIM in 177 career AHL games with Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In 2011-12, Grant stood third among AHL rookies and tied for fourth among AHL defensemen in power-play points (7-2027), and set career highs in goals (10), assists (27), points (37) and appearances (61) in the process.

The Admirals then travel to divisional opponents Binghamton, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Syrcause the following weekend for three games in three days.
