Manchester Monarchs News Release
Manchester, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs, ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced Wednesday the signing of former Monarch, forward Stefan Legein and defenseman Mark Adams for the 2015-16 season.
Legein, 26, a native of Oakville, Ontario, played in 114 games in two seasons for the Monarchs from 2011-13, scoring 42 points on 19 goals and 23 assists. In his career, Legein has played in 265 AHL games, collecting 100 points on 54 goals and 46 assists with Manchester, Syracuse, Adirondack, and Toronto.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward played in 16 games for the Heilbronn Falcons (DEL-2) during the 2014-15 season.
Legein began his career in the OHL, playing for the Mississauga/Niagra IceDogs, and spent part of one season with the Milton Icehawks of the OPJHL. A two-game stint with the Greenville Road Warriors during the 2010-11 is the only ECHL action Legein has seen.
In 2007, Legein was drafted 38th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets, and won a gold medal in the 2008 IIHF World U20 Championship for team Canada.
Mark Adams is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound right shot stay-at-home defenseman out of Providence College. The Boxford, Mass. native played for the Friars from 2010-15, logging 98 games and scoring eight points on two goals and six assists. In his senior season, Adams helped Providence win the NCAA Division I Ice Hockey National Championship.
Adams was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (134th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and played for the Chicago Steel of the USHL before heading to campus. During that 2009-10 season, Adams played in 53 games scoring 14 points on four goals and 10 assists, along with 85 penalty minutes. Adams was named team captain for that season.
Legein, Adams and the Monarchs will open the season at home on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. as they host the Brampton Beast at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Individual-game tickets for Opening Night go on sale to the public on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.
