Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the team has acquired Charlie Dodero from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for future considerations. The third-year defenseman returns to Greenville after skating 14 games with the club in 2013-14.

"Charlie's addition will really bolster our back line," Head Coach Brian Gratz said. "He's a tough, physical defenseman who will be very difficult to play against."

Dodero, 22, spent the majority of last season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, recording five points (1g, 4a), 72 penalty minutes and a +7 rating in 36 games. He also played 33 contests with Idaho and notched 12 points (3g, 9a) and 81 penalty minutes during his second professional season.

A native of Bloomingdale, Illinois, Dodero made his pro debut with Greenville during the 2013-14 campaign and notched two assists and 22 penalty minutes in 14 games in the Upstate. He also produced 19 points (4g, 15a) and 75 penalty minutes in 44 regular-season games for the Steelheads. In addition, Dodero earned five points (1g, 4a) in 11 playoff contests with Idaho in 2013-14.

Prior to turning pro, the 6'2, 190-pound blue-liner played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Kitchener and Sudbury from 2009-2013. He compiled 69 points (11g, 58a) in 248 career games. Dodero also spent one season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with Tri-City during the 2008-09 season.
