Royals Radio Recon Back for Fifteenth Anniversary Bash at the Railroad House
September 2, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that the team's weekly coach's show, Royals Radio Recon, will be held for the fifth consecutive year at Jimmy G's Railroad House Sports Bar and Restaurant (152 Woodrow Ave., Sinking Spring, PA; 610-678-1177). The show, which airs on Tuesday nights from 6 - 7 pm, will kick off the Fifteenth Anniversary Season on Tuesday, October 13.
The hour-long show, which will be hosted by Royals' broadcaster Mark Thompson and color commentator Pat Richards, will feature Head Coach Larry Courville, Assistant Coach Kirk MacDonald and a regular rotation of the team's players each week. Radio Recon is expected to continue the long-running tradition of attempting to baffle the ever-increasingly clever fan base with Crazy Trivia, and we'll try to revive the fan favorite 'What Grinds My Gears'-a segment developed by Ethan Cox, who may be retired, but we always hold out hope that he'll come back to reclaim the throne that is rightfully his...As with years past, Radio Recon will be broadcast live on Reading's sports station, CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm, and will be made available on the Royals' website the next day. Of course, fans are encouraged to participate with questions and comments, while generally doing what they can to keep the hosts honest.
The Railroad House, which dates back to the 1800s and was re-opened by Jimmy Giuffrida and his wife, April, in 2007, features a menu steeped in American cuisine, offering many traditional favorites at affordable prices. The venue, which hosts live music on many nights, boasts no fewer than twenty-six flat-panel high-definition televisions and two huge high-definition projector televisions, providing sports fans access to virtually all of the available televised action on any given night.
The Fifteenth Anniversary Season of Royals' hockey kicks off with back-to-back games against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday (October 17) and Sunday (October 18). Reading opens the home portion of the team's schedule on Saturday, October 24, (7:00 pm) when the Elmira Jackals visit Santander Arena. Season Tickets for the 2015-16 Reading Royals ECHL season are currently available. Call 610-898-7825 for more information or log onto www.royalshockey.com.
