Monarchs Sign Murphy To Tryout

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed right wing Ryan Murphy to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. In addition, the Monarchs have released center Michel Leveille from his professional tryout agreement.
Murphy, 25, played in 102 games with the Monarchs from 2004-07 and registered 24 points (12-12=24) and 67 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Rumson, New Jersey, missed three and a half months of the 2006-07 Monarchs season after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder he suffered on December 30, 2006. Murphy split the 2007-08 season between the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack and the Peoria Rivermen. Most recently, Murphy has collected 11 points (2-9=11) and 26 penalty minutes in 24 games with the Checkers this season. Selected by the Kings in the sixth-round (185th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Murphy played for the Boston College Eagles for four seasons and recorded 59 points (25-34=59) in 156 games from 2001-05.
Leveille, 27, recorded seven points (1-6=7) and 11 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Monarchs this season. He registered his only goal with Manchester on Tuesday, December 9 in the Monarchs 4-3 shootout loss to the Portland Pirates at the Alfond Arena on the campus of the University of Maine, Leveille's alma mater. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Levis, Quebec, played in 41 games with the AHL's Toronto Marlies during the 2007-08 season and collected 12 points (9-3=12) and 14 penalty minutes. Murphy also appeared in four games with the ECHL's Columbia Inferno and recorded five points (1-4=5) and four penalty minutes. Leveille played four seasons at the University of Maine with Kings right wing Teddy Purcell. From 2003-07, Leveille collected 148 points (52-96=148) and 210 penalty minutes in 152 games.
