Worcester, MA, December 14, 2008: Matt Zaba made 35 saves, and Patrick Rissmiller and Jordan Owens scored first-period goals, to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack to a 2-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks Sunday at the DCU Center.

The Wolf Pack won despite being outshot by a margin of 36-19, including a combined 27-10 in the final two periods.

Rissmiller, a product of nearby Holy Cross, opened the scoring for the Wolf Pack 4:33 into the game. Greg Moore fed Rissmiller at the right-wing side of the goalmouth on a two-on-one, and Rissmiller backhanded the puck under the crossbar behind Worcester goaltender Thomas Greiss. Owens, coming off his first three-point game in the AHL Saturday night at home against Springfield, made it 2-0 at 14:14. Owens' attempt at a backhanded, right-to-left pass across the slot hit Worcester defenseman Jason Demers' stick and deflected past Greiss.

The only goal of the second period came off the stick of former Wolf Pack Cory Larose, and it was his team-best 12th of the year for the Sharks. Ryan Vesce capitalized on a neutral-zone turnover by Hartford's Justin Soryal, and Larose, cutting in off right wing, buried a shot over Zaba's glove.

The Sharks outshot the Wolf Pack 14-3 in the third period, helped by four power plays awarded by referee Terry Koharski, but Zaba held strong to preserve the win. The Wolf Pack penalty-kill was 5/5 for the game and has allowed only one goal in 28 times-short in the last seven games.

With the win, the Wolf Pack moved to a season-best two games above .500,, at 13-11-1-3 for 30 points, and into a third-place tie with the Sharks in the Atlantic Division. Hartford is unbeaten in regulation in four straight games (3-0-0-1), which ties the Wolf Pack's longest such streak of the season.
