Monarchs Recall Atherton From Reading

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, recalled defenseman PJ Atherton from the ECHL's Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Atherton, 25, has played in 51 games with the Royals this season and collected 38 points (13-25=38) and 46 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Edina, Minnesota, missed six games in February due to injury but remained among the ECHL's defensive leaders with 38 points, currently ranked sixth in the league. Atherton played in 16 games with the Springfield Falcons over the last two season and collected six points (2-4=6) and six penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Atherton played four seasons (2002-06) of hockey at the University of Minnesota and recorded 17 points (5-12=17) and 146 penalty minutes in 106 games.
