PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Monarchs (68 pts.) begin a two-game series with the Alaska Aces two points ahead of the Brampton Beast and Adirondack Thunder for the lead in the North Division, with the Reading Royals waking up fourth in the tightly contested division.
STRUGGLE CITIES
Both Alaska and Manchester enter the weekend series struggling to find wins. In their last ten games, Alaska has posted a 2-6-0-2 record and is 1-5-0-0 in their last six games, including a five-game skid at home. Manchester holds a 3-4-3-0 record in their last ten games and has gone five straight games without posting a win.
GOING ON A ROAD TRIP
After playing six straight games at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, AK, the Aces play their second of a ten-game road trip tonight in Manchester. The ten-game road trip is the longest stretch away from home the Aces will face this season. To kick off the trip, the Aces picked up a 4-3 win at Elmira on Thursday night, halting their five-game losing streak.
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Despite trailing by two entering the third period Friday night, Manchester battled back to get a point and extend their point streak at home to 16 games. The streak is the longest the league has seen this season, and Manchester will look to add two more games against the Aces this weekend. The Monarchs have not lost in regulation at home in exactly three months, dating back to November 25th, a 4-1 loss to the Florida Everblades.
FIRST TO LIGHT THE LAMP
Alaska enters tonight's game as the only team in the league yet to lose in regulation when scoring first, having gone 18-0-1-3 in their 22 games when pocketing the first goal. The Aces have only eight wins this season when allowing their opponent to strike first. Manchester has a record of 18-5-3-2 in the 28 games that they have been first to light the lamp.
