HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Thunder played each other 15 times last season, with the Monarchs taking the season series, 8-6-1-0. The two teams met in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, a series the Thunder won, 4-1.

WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs enter the 2016-17 season looking to take the North Division title, after winning the East Division last season. After an off-season re-alignment, the Monarchs will now contend with the Thunder, Brampton Beast, Elmira Jackals, Reading Royals and newcomers, the Wheeling Nailers, for the top spot in the division. With the realignment, the playoff structure has changed as well. Now, the first two rounds will be played exclusively in-conference, with the division winner playing the fourth-place finisher, and the second-place team meeting the third-place team. STARTING QUICKLY - In the past five seasons, the Monarchs have posted a 4-0-0-1 record in Opening Night contests. Last season, the Monarchs took down the Brampton Beast in an Opening Night thriller, with Matt Leitner netting the first ECHL goal in franchise history and Derek Arnold scoring the game-winner at 12:59 of the third period. BACK TO THE GRANITE STATE - Connor Hardowa and Justin Agosta will return to New Hampshire for the first time in their professional careers, as the two former University of New Hampshire Wildcats will make their Monarchs home debuts tonight. DIFFERENT WAYS TO WIN - Last season, the Monarchs scored 222 goals over the course of the season and gave up 213. In contrast, the Thunder scored only 197 goals, but gave up a division-low, 189. Despite the difference, the teams finished first and second respectively in the East Division. ---Monarchs--- Matt Johnson Manager of Public Relations and Merchandise
