Manchester Monarchs News Release
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Manchester Monarchs couldn't finish-off the Adirondack Thunder in Game 5, and fell, 2-1, Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The Monarchs (3-2) will look to clinch the series against the Thunder (2-3) on Tuesday night in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Adirondack got on the board mid-way through the first period when Peter MacArthur scored his 1st goal of the postseason at 9:58. After a battle in the right corner, the puck trickled to the stick of Keegan Kanzig who found MacArthur on the doorstep, where the Thunder captain chipped the puck over the blocker of Monarchs goaltender, Sam Brittain, to put the Thunder up, 1-0.
The Monarchs tied things up when Colton Saucerman scored his 1st goal of the post-season at 16:41 of the opening period. Saucerman carried the puck into the zone on a rush that began at his own blue line, side-stepped a Thunder defenseman at the circle and fired a shot on net from the goal line that bounced off the mask of Thunder goaltender, J.P. Anderson, to make the score, 1-1.
The Thunder went up, 2-1, at 3:03 of the third period when Dennis Kravchenko scored his 2nd goal of the series. Just after coming out of the penalty box, Kravchenko took a stretch pass from Brock Montgomery and went in on a breakaway. Kravchenko ultimately made a backhand-to-forehand move and tucked the puck just past the right leg of Brittain, to make the score, 2-1, Adirondack.
Manchester pulled Brittain for an extra attacker with 1:08 remaining, but couldn't solve Anderson for the equalizer.
The Monarchs will look to close out the Adirondack Thunder in Game 6 of the North Division Semifinals on Tuesday, Apr. 25 (7 p.m.) at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
