Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to Memorial High School in Manchester to acquire an indoor batting cage and to Newport Montessori School in Newport to construct permanent fencing around the playground as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Friday.
Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports team. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.
The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. For an Investing In Our Youth grant application, visit www.monarchshockey.com and click on "In The Community" or contact Cheryl Abbott, the Monarchs Vice President of Public Affairs at (603) 626-7825, extension 6102.
Memorial High School's purchase of an indoor batting cage with the grant money will permit the softball team to remain on school grounds for practice, work on the team's batting skills in inclement weather and enable the program to conduct hitting clinics at no cost to community youth.
The grant money for a permanent fence for the Newport Montessori School will ensure the children's safety around the playground. The non-profit organization serves 36 children ages three-to-six years old from four surrounding towns.
The time is now to join one of the biggest, loudest and proudest families in the AHL! Become a resident of Monarchs Country by signing up for our Season Ticket Priority List. A $50 deposit will ensure you are one of the very first people to select seats for the 2007-08 season. For more information, call the Monarchs at 603-626-7825.
