Moose Sign St. Croix to Contract Extension

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of Vancouver Canucks, today announced they have agreed to terms on a contract extension with Assistant Coach Rick St. Croix.

St. Croix re-joins the Moose for his third season as assistant coach. Last year, St. Croix was instrumental in the development of netminder Drew MacIntyre who came over prior to the season from the Detroit Red Wings organization to finish third in the entire American Hockey League in goals against average and fourth in save percentage. In his previous stint with the hockey team, St. Croix served as a goaltending consultant in 2003-04.

Prior to working with the Moose, St. Croix was the goaltending coach with the Dallas Stars from 1997 to 2000. During that time, the Stars won the Stanley Cup as St. Croix worked with such goaltending greats as Eddie Belfour and Marty Turco. He was also the goaltending coach of the Winnipeg Jets in the 1989-89 season.

St. Croix played eight seasons in the NHL after being drafted out of Oshawa by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1975. His best year was in Philadelphia inn 1980-81 when he recorded a career-best 2.79 goals against average and his only two NHL shutouts in 27 games.
