
Home Opener Set For October 6

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today six of their home game dates for the 2007-08 season. The Falcons will open the 2007-08 campaign at the MassMutual Center on Saturday, October 6 against an opponent to be determined at a later date.
Falcons Six Approved Home Dates For 2007-08:
Saturday, October 6 (Opening Night)
Friday, October 12
Friday, November 16
Friday, December 28
Saturday, January 5
Friday, January 18
"Having our home opener approved gives us an opportunity to start planning the festivities for that evening immediately," said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. "It's never too early to start pushing your group sales efforts and now having six approved dates gives us a head start to start pushing groups for those six dates."
The Falcons will once again play an 80-game schedule in 2007-08, 40 home games and 40 road games. Springfield will play in the seven-team Atlantic Division located within the Eastern Conference. Once again joining the Falcons in the Atlantic Division will be the following teams: Hartford Wolf Pack (NYR), Lowell Devils (NJ), Manchester Monarchs (LA), Portland Pirates (ANA), Providence Bruins (BOS), and Worcester Sharks (SJ). Springfield will play a total of 60 of their 80 regular season games within the Atlantic Division, including facing all six divisional opponents 10 times each.
Springfield will play a pair of games against both the Houston Aeros (MIN) and San Antonio Rampage (PHX) this season, the first time in franchise history the Birds will play the Aeros and Rampage.
The entire 2007-08 AHL schedule will be released later this summer, including times and dates for all games. The Falcons will be entering their first season with the Edmonton Oilers as their NHL affiliate. The Falcons are currently accepting deposits on full, half, and 10-game ticket packages for the 2007-08 season, in addition to 40 and 10-Flex Packs. Any individual who purchases a Falcons' ticket package up until opening night is automatically entered for a chance to win a trip to Edmonton, Alberta to see an Edmonton Oilers' regular season game during the 2007-08 season, all expenses paid.
