MLS Cup 2005 Awarded to Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center

Dallas, Tex. – Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber announced today at the MLS Cup 2004 Press Conference that next season's edition of the League's championship game, MLS Cup 2005, will be held at the new Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center, scheduled to open in the spring of 2005. MLS Cup 2005 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 13.

"Our organization is honored to host the premier event in Major League Soccer," said FC Dallas President and General Manager Greg Elliott. "Being awarded this match is another sign this stadium is becoming a magnet for premier events throughout the world of soccer. We look forward to working with the City of Frisco to stage a wonderful celebration on behalf of the league."

MLS Cup 2005 will mark the first time that the League's champion is crowned in the state of Texas with the nine previous title matches held in California, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C. and Ohio. FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, will begin play in the new 21,193 seat soccer stadium in the spring of 2005. The 117-acre facility will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. The Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football. Adjacent to the stadium will be 17 regulation size, tournament-grade soccer fields which will be utilized on a year-round basis, making the Center the focal point of youth and adult soccer in North Texas as well as the future destination of the most prestigious local, regional, national and international competitions. An estimated 1.4 million spectators and participants are expected to visit the facility annually.

FRISCO SOCCER & ENTERTAINMENT CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

· The stage ramp for the facility is nearly finished with the stage area formed and waiting completion.

· The Field boxes have been shaped and are waiting a concrete finishing.

· The seating bowl is halfway completed with concrete and the field retaining wall is finished.

· Irrigation has begun on the northern fields in the soccer park.

· Parking lots have been shaped and the utilities rooted.

· The North/South street on the west side of the complex is leveled with utilities in place.
