
Missoula Falters Again to Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho. - Stewart Ijames opened the game with a three-run homer but Idaho Falls scored ten times before Missoula could cross the plate again in 10-5 loss.
Missoula's (6-8, 23-29) Ijames homer was his sixth of the season and he collected his fifteenth RBI. Missoula's last scoring came on a Damion Smith RBI double in the sixth inning to bring in Tyler Baker and Dane McFarland.
Idaho Falls (7-6, 27-24) scored ten runs between the Missoula scores and chased out Dallas Newton after three innings of work. Newton (2-3) allowed seven hits and eight runs with five earned. The righty issued four walks and tallied a strikeout to drop his second consecutive decision, but has also allowed seven unearned runs over those starts.
Derek Cape gave up two runs in relief before Kevin Simmons and Anthony Bazzani kept the Chukars off the scoreboard with Simmons striking out three over two innings and Bazzani retiring the side in the eighth inning.
Chukars starter Jake Newberry (4-3) rode his offense to snap a three-game losing skid of his own with five innings of action and six hits. He reached six strikeouts and walked a pair of Osprey.
Matt Strahm allowed two runs off the Smith double in the sixth inning but limited the damage with that one hit in two innings.
Missoula went 2-10 with runners in scoring position while Idaho Falls capitalized in prime opportunities with an 8-18 mark.
