Missions Rally Past Hooks 7-4

The Missions scored six times between the fourth and fifth innings to pull out an exciting, 7-4 come-from-behind victory over the Hooks Sunday night at the Wolff.
San Antonio got the scoring started in the first, taking a 1-0 lead on a two-out, RBI double by Everett Williams.
However, Corpus Christi quickly responded in the second with a three-run rally against Missions starter Keyvius Sampson. Domingo Santana worked a walk to lead off the frame before back-to-back homers by Erik Castro and Jonathan Meyer gave the Hooks a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Missions got an RBI double from shortstop Chris Bisson and a run-scoring single by catcher Rocky Gale to tie the game at three.
After George Springer hit a towering solo homer (TL-leading 18th) to left-center field to put the Hooks back in front 4-3 in the fifth, the Missions answered with a four-run eruption in their half of the frame against reliever Sergio Escalona (0-1).
The Missions began the inning with back to back triples by Adam Buschini and Rico Noel, quickly knotting the score at four. San Antonio entered the game with just eight triples all season. After consecutive ground outs kept Noel at third, Williams delivered another two-out RBI, this time a single to center, putting the Missions ahead for good. A.J. Kirby-Jones capped the uprising with a two-run homer down the left-field line.
The big inning made a winner out of Sampson (3-4), who allowed four runs on five hits in his five innings.
The bullpen of Ryan Kelly, Jeremy McBryde, Matt Stites and Kevin Quackenbush (TL-leading 12th save) took care of the rest of the game with four scoreless frames of two-hit ball.
With the win, San Antonio (33-28) moves within 4.5 games of first-place Corpus Christi (38-24) with nine games left in the first half. The two teams resume their four-game series Monday night, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Matt Wisler (2-2, 4.33) gets the ball for the Missions, while the Hooks will counter with right-hander Ruben Alaniz (2-5, 5.37).
Notes: Williams paced San Antonio's 11-hit attack with his second three-hit performance in three games. Buschini and Kirby-Jones were the other two Missions to record multi-hit efforts in the win. Quackenbush extended his scoreless innings streak to 16.1 (16 games). With his first-inning walk, Reymond Fuentes extended his on-base streak to 31 games, which is now the longest streak in the TL this season.
