Frisco RoughRiders News Release
After two rain delays, San Antonio defeated the RoughRiders 9-3 Saturday night
The game didn't end until 12:08 a.m. Sunday morning because of two separate rain delays totaling 1:43 as San Antonio defeated Frisco 9-2. Chad Tracy recorded three hits (the only multi-hit performance for Frisco), including the team's only two extra-base hits: a double and home run.
After being delayed 43 minutes before a pitch was even thrown, San Antonio scored six runs over the first three innings, including RBI doubles by Jesus Lopez and Mike Baxter. Frisco got on the scoreboard in the fourth frame when Marcus Lemon scored on a wild pitch to make the score 6-1. The game was then delayed for 1:01 because of rain. After play continued, Frisco scored a run in the sixth frame on an RBI single by Johnny Whittleman, but San Antonio answered with a three-run eighth frame to extend their lead to 9-2. Tracy hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth to cut into the Missions' lead, but San Antonio closed the game for the 9-3 victory.
Frisco starter Michael Ballard (0-1) suffered his first loss with Frisco in 2009, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits over 4.2 innings and a pair of strikeouts. San Antonio starter Mat Latos allowed only one run on one hit in his Double-A debut, but earned the no-decision because of the rain delay. Mike Adams (1-0), who was making a rehab appearance from the San Diego Padres, earned the victory, throwing an inning of shutout baseball.
Tracy finished 3-for-4 with a double and home run and Justin Smoak extended his home reached base streak to 19 consecutive contests. Craig Cooper had a game-best three RBI for San Antonio.
Frisco and San Antonio will battle in game three of the series Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Dr Pepper Ballpark. The game will be televised on KTXA 21.
