Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas – On a night when the Round Rock Express set new all-time Texas League and Double-A attendance records, the San Antonio Missions played the part of the wet blanket.

Cha Sung Baek threw eight innings of shutout ball and Elpidio Guzman drove in the only run of the night in a well played 2-0 San Antonio win over Round Rock.

The biggest story of the night was the Express fans, though. 9,806 saw the game, giving Round Rock a season attendance mark of 676,593, breaking the previous record of 670,176, set by the Express in 2002. It is also the fourth time in as many years that Round Rock has created a new Texas League and Double-A standard.

That overshadowed strong outings from Baek and Greg Powell. Powell continued the success he's had against the Missions this year by allowing the sole run on seven hits in seven innings. One mistake against Guzman, though, cost him the game.

Greg Jacobs doubled the start the inning. Powell got the next two batters and got a 1-2 count on Guzman before the right fielder blooped a single to left.

Jim Horner homered in the ninth to provide the second run.

Baek (3-3) allowed only three hits in his eight innings to get the win. Powell (7-9) was the loser. Jared Hoerman pitched the ninth for his 36th save.

The season finale – complete with post-game fireworks – will be Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
