Missions Fall 11-10 to Hounds

MIDLAND - The Missions rallied from a five-run deficit Monday night but fell just short at Security Bank Ballpark, as they wrapped up a 1-7 roadtrip.

San Antonio was charged with a season-high three errors that led to three unearned runs. They also had a runner picked off first and another thrown out at second base trying to stretch a fielding error to two bases. Both baserunning gaffes occurred in the eighth inning. They proved to be costly because Nick Torres followed the out at second base with a double.

The Missions took an early 4-2 lead, but starter Bryan Rodriguez couldn't hold it. Midland scored all of its runs within the first five innings, the first seven runs charged to Rodriguez.

Gabriel Quintana finished with three hits, two doubles, and drove in three. Ryan Miller also collected three hits and drove in a pair. San Antonio finished with a season-high 15 hits.

Five of the seven losses on the trip were by one run. The Missions are 2-10 in games decided by one or two runs.

NOTES: Former big leager Brandon Morrow was promoted to Triple-A El Paso. Rodriguez replaced him on the roster after making one start for El Paso...The Missions open a four-game homestand against Frisco tonight.
