
Missions Blow Late Five-Run Lead in Loss to Frisco

SAN ANTONIO - After leading 8-3 heading into the eighth inning, the Missions bullpen allowed seven runs in the final two innings ending in a Frisco walk-off victory. Final score was 10-9.
Like in game one of the series, the Frisco RoughRiders plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Against Aaron Leasher, Bubba Thompson started the inning with a solo home run. After an error and a single, the second run scored on a ground out from Josh Jung. With two outs, the third run scored after an RBI single from Diosbel Arias.
It took San Antonio four innings to get a run on the board. Instead, they put a four spot on the board in the top of the fourth inning. CJ Abrams doubled and Eguy Rosario was hit by a pitch. They accomplished a double steal and advanced to scoring position. Kyle Overstreet drove in both runners with a single. With two outs, Allen Cordoba connected on his first home run of the season. The Missions now held a 4-3 lead.
The San Antonio Missions added a run in the fifth inning on a Rosario RBI single. Two more runs scored for the Missions in the sixth inning courtesy of a two-run double from Chandler Seagle. The Missions added another run in the seventh inning after an RBI single from Cordoba. It was 8-3 in favor of the good guys.
Frisco began their comeback in the eighth inning adding three runs. Against Carlos Belen, Thompson began the inning with a triple. Stowers followed that up a single to shallow left field. David Dahl, on a rehab assignment, drove in a run with an RBI single. Sherten Apostel drove in the second run with an RBI single. Lastly, Arias drove in another run with an RBI single.
The Missions added an insurance run in the ninth inning. Jack Suwinski launched his 12th home run of the season to make it a 9-6 ballgame.
Frisco completed their comeback attempt by scoring four runs in the ninth inning and walking off San Antonio. Dahl provided a big blast with a three-run home run to tie the game. After a two-out walk to Apostel, Arias hit a walk-off double, scoring Apostel and winning the game for Frisco.

The Missions continue their six-game series against Frisco on Thursday, June 24th. Right-hander Jordan Humphreys will make his 2021 season debut for the Missions. Left-hander Jake Latz (1-0, 2.87) is scheduled to pitch for Frisco. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
