CORPUS CHRISTI - San Antonio rode a five-run fourth inning to a 6-3 win over Corpus Christi Sunday night at Whataburger Field before 8,005.

Both clubs are 30-39 in the second half of Texas League play with one game remaining in the regular season.

A combination of big and small ball provided the Missions with a 1-0 third-inning lead. After Cedric Hunter stroked a lead-off double into right field, he was sacrificed to third by Nathan Culp and scored on Eric Sogard's right-side bounce-out.

San Antonio's advantage ballooned to 6-0 an inning later. The Missions tagged Tyler Lumsden for four hits, including a two-run triple by Hunter just inside the first-base bag. A Mitch Canham RBI single and Culp's sacrifice liner to deep left accounted for two of the other runs. Logan Forsythe raced home on a wild pitch for the uprising's first score.

The Hooks grabbed three runs right back. Corpus Christi's first five batters in the home fourth reach via singles. Jonathan Fixler, Mark Ori and Chad Spann contributed RBI hits and the rally was also fueled by a pair of throwing errors.

Culp (8-9) qualified for the victory with five innings. He allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks while fanning four. Culp's pitch count was 82, 52 for strikes.

Lumsden (2-4) exited after four innings, five hits, a walk and two strikeouts. He threw 57 pitches (38 strikes). Erick Abreu (3) and Chia-Jen Lo (2) combined for five scoreless innings.

Over the last seven contests, Hooks relievers have allowed just four earned runs in 26 1/3 innings.

San Antonio's bullpen was also spotless as Carlos Guevara, Mike DeMark, Brandon Gomes and Evan Scribner tossed a scoreless frame each.
