The RoughRiders, led by infielder Guilder Rodriguez, beat the RockHounds on Sunday, 6-2
Frisco scored in just two innings, but it was enough as the âRiders defeated Midland 6-2 on Sunday. Frisco's second baseman Guilder Rodriguez had a game-best three hits and three RBI to lead the Frisco offense. âRiders starter Michael Ballard (7-6) allowed just one run over seven innings.
The RoughRiders broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning when Chris Gradoville doubled and scored on Rodriguez's triple. Rodriguez then scored on an error and Engle Beltre scored on an RBI single by Dustin Majewski to give Frisco the 3-0 lead. The RockHounds tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Frisco put the game away in the eighth with another three-spot. After Chad Tracy scored on a Gradoville sacrifice fly, Johnny Whittleman and Renny Osuna both scored on a two-run single by Rodriguez to make the score 6-1. Midland added one more run in the ninth, but Frisco's bullpen held on for the 6-2 RoughRiders win.
Ballard allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Frisco reliever Brennan Garr allowed one run in two innings of relief. Midland starter Kyle Middleton (5-2) took the loss, allowing three runs over five innings of work.
Rodriguez led the team with three hits, including his fourth triple on the season. Gradoville recorded his first multi-double game this season with a pair of two-baggers. Six different RoughRiders scored runs for Frisco.
Frisco will play the final game of 2009 on Monday as the RockHounds and RoughRiders will match up at 6:30 in Midland.
