Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits left 15 men on base and went 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position on Friday, as they lost their fifth game in-a-row against the Beloit Sky Carp 5-4 at Modern Woodmen Park.

Bandits' starter Eric Cerantola stranded Sky Carp in scoring position in each of his first two innings, but with two outs and a man on third, a Kale Emshoff passed ball allowed Dalvy Rosario to score from third and give Beloit a 1-0 lead.

The right-hander then worked two outs into the fourth, but was replaced by Jack Aldrich, who struck out Marcus Chiu for a combined one-two-three inning, and ended Ceraontola's night with the starter on the hook for one unearned run and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, Quad Cities finally broke through against Evan Fitterer, the Beloit starter who tossed three shutout innings before allowing a three-run fourth. After Luca Tresh's leadoff single, Kale Emshoff gave the Bandits a 2-1 lead on a two-run homer before Dillan Shrum tacked on another with an RBI double.

The Bandits again threatened with two men aboard in the fifth, but Matt Givin helped Fitterer end the frame, striking out Burle Dixon to eliminate the threat.

Aldrich, in his High-A debut, worked 1.2 scoreless out of the bullpen for Quad Cities, but ran into trouble in the sixth, giving up back-to-back RBI singles to Chiu and Cody Morissette to tie the game, before Rosario doubled in a pair of runs for a 5-3 Beloit lead.

After leaving two men in scoring position against Given in the sixth, the Bandits put men on the corners against the right-hander in the bottom of the seventh and cut the deficit to one with a sacrifice-fly off the bat of Kale Emshoff, but that is all they would get, as Sean Reynolds used a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.

Although Patrick Halligan held Beloit off the scoreboard for 3,0 innings of relief, Q.C. failed to score in both the final two innings with Reynolds getting Tyler Gentry and Tresh to pop out and strikeout in the eighth and Robinson Martinez stranding the bases loaded by striking out Tyler Tolbert to end the game in the ninth.

Givin (2-2) earned the win in the contest for Beloit, allowing the lone run in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen, while Aldrich (0-1) allowed four earned on four hits and two walks en route to the loss in his Bandits' debut.

Martinez earned his second save of the season, striking out a pair in the process.

Still searching for their first win of the season, Quad Cities will send Rylan Kaufman (1-1, 4.20) to the mound on Saturday against Beloit's Zach King (2-2, 2.45). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Modern Woodmen Park.
