LYNCHBURG, VA (JULY 15, 2011) - Winston-Salem used two Lynchburg errors in the fifth inning to put up three runs and more solid pitching led the Dash to a 4-1 win on Friday night at City Stadium. The win is the third straight for Winston-Salem, and Cameron Bayne picked up his eighth win of the season in his return to the Dash.

For the first time on this road trip, Winston-Salem (11-10, 43-48) was the first team to score. Jared Mitchell led off the fourth inning with a double to left-center field, and advanced to third when Andy Wilkins grounded out. Ian Gac then hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Mitchell and putting Winston up 1-0.

The Dash capitalized on poor Lynchburg defense in the next inning. Kyle Colligan reached on a throwing error by third baseman Barrett Kleinknecht to start the inning, and moved to second when Luis Sierra walked. Daniel Wagner then sacrificed the runners to second and third with one out. Tyler Saladino reached on another throwing error by Kleinknecht that also scored Colligan. Sierra advanced to third, and crossed home on a Mitchell sac fly. Wilkins then drove in Saladino with a two-out double to cap a three-run inning.

Lynchburg (6-15, 36-55) got on the board against Bayne in the sixth when Adam Milligan hit a lead-off home run.

Aside from the home run, Bayne (8-4) had a solid return to the Winston-Salem rotation. In six innings he gave up the one run on seven hits, walked one, and struck out six to get the win. He last pitched for Winston on June 23, and continued a string of three consecutive quality starts with the Dash and six overall. Orlando Santos relieved Bayne and went the rest of the way, allowing only one hit and striking out four in his first save of the season. Zeke Spruill (7-8) took a tough-luck loss, though he only allowed one earned run (four total) in 7.1 innings pitched.

Winston-Salem goes for the sweep on Saturday night as the series with Lynchburg wraps up starting at 6:05 p.m. at City Stadium. RHP Jake Petricka (0-3, 6.35) will pitch for the Dash against LHP Blaine Sims (2-4, 3.08).
