PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (September 3, 2015) - The Fort Myers Miracle piled up 14 hits in a 9-5 series opening win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

The Stone Crabs pounced on Miracle starter Mat Batts in the second inning. Maxx Tissenbaum and Granden Goetzman led off the frame with a pair of bouncing singles up the middle. Braxton Lee bounced a first pitch single through the left side to bring in Goetzman. Hector Guevara followed by stinging a 1-0 pitch up the middle with the bases still loaded for a two-run single, 4-0.

The Miracle answered right back in the top of the third. Zack Granite started off the rally by pulling an 0-1 pitch from Crabs starter German Marquez down the first base line for a triple. Granite came into score when Chad Christensen beat out an infield single to short. Engelb Vielma followed with a line drive hit to center field and Christensen advanced to second. Marquez (7-13) then got Aderling Mejia to fly out to center, but Mitch Garver singled to right to load the bases.

Logan Wade stepped up and popped out to second, but Bryan Haar delivered a clutch two-out hit. On a 1-2 pitch, Haar smoked a triple over the head of Goetzman in center and cleared the bases to tie the game, 4-4.

In the fifth, the Crabs capitalized on a pair of Miracle throwing errors. Guevara led off with a single into left and moved up to second base on an overthrow back to the infield by Granite. Batts then got Marjama to roll to third for the first out. Casey Gillaspie also hit a grounder to third. Mejia made the play and retired Gillaspie at first, but Guevara broke for third. Wade's throw back across the diamond skipped past the bag at third and Guevara advanced home, 5-4.

The Miracle stormed ahead in the sixth with three runs. With one out, Jason Kanzler started the rally with a single into center. Granite followed with a walk. The Crabs then went to the bullpen and replaced Marquez with Hunter Wood. On a 1-2 pitch, Christensen yanked a double down the third base line that tied the game. With runners at second and third, Vielma pushed across the go-ahead run on a ground ball to first. Gillaspie retired Vielma at the bag, but Granite raced home.
