Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

(BRADENTON, FL) - In a game with several twist and turns, the Bradenton Marauders rallied for an 11-10 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle on Monday night at McKechnie Field. The Marauders led 4-1 through six innings before the two teams combined to score 16 runs in the final three innings of play. The Miracle, who trailed 11-6 heading to the ninth inning, rallied for four runs and had the potential tying run on third base when the game ended. The loss was just the second in seven games for the Miracle since the all-star break.

The Marauders scored twice in the first inning and once more in the second to take an early 3-0 lead, but the Miracle finally broke through in the fourth as Nick Gordon singled, stole second, went to third on a passed ball, and scored on a two-out single off the bat of Edgar Corcino.

The Marauders, who got that run back in their half of the fourth to take a 4-1 advantage, then threatened to blow the game wide open as they loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth inning, and then again with one out in the sixth, but they came away empty-handed on each occasion.

That left the door wide open for the Miracle, who responded by scoring five times in the top of the seventh to take the lead. Trey Vavra's two-run homerun brought the visitors to within one run at 4-3, and T.J. White followed shortly thereafter with a three-run shot of his own to put Fort Myers on top 6-4.

Unfortunately for the Miracle, that lead would be short-lived as Michael Suchy blasted a two-out, two-run homerun off Nick Anderson in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 6-6.

The Miracle did not score in the eighth, but the host Marauders did, scoring five times to seemingly take control at 11-6 heading to the ninth. Suchy, who finished the night by going 3-for-4 with four RBI, capped the outburst with a two-out, two-run double. Cole Tucker, who began the frame with a single, had four hits in five at-bats with two RBI and two runs scored for Bradenton.

The Miracle did not go quietly, however, as they rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth. Putting together four hits, two walks, and an error, Fort Myers had closed to within 11-10, and had the bases loaded and one out, but Max Murphy grounded into a second-to-short-to-first double play to end the ballgame.

The Miracle (36-37) will return to action on Tuesday night as they open up a three-game series at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter with a 6:30 p.m. game against the Palm Beach Cardinals. Fans can listen to the broadcast of the game on www.miraclebaseball.com with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman. The MiracleBaseball.com pregame show begins at 6:15 p.m.
