Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, FL - The Bradenton Marauders (41-31) won a roller coaster battle 11-10 against the Fort Myers Miracle (36-37) on Monday night at McKechnie Field. Bradenton's five-run eighth inning broke a 6-6 tie, but the Miracle scrapped to the end by scoring four times in the ninth before Max Murphy grounded into a game-ending 4-6-3 double play with the bases loaded.
RHP Buddy Borden made his Bradenton debut on the mound. Borden went 3 2/3 innings after spending the first half of the season pitching out of the bullpen for the Montgomery Biscuits in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Borden allowed one unearned run and struck out three while walking one. He signed with the Pirates organization for the second time in his ca- reer after being released by the Rays on June 10. The Pirates drafted Borden in the seventh round out of UNLV in 2013 and traded him in 2015 for Sean Rodriguez.
SS Cole Tucker went 4-for-5, scored twice and drove in two runs for the Marauders. LF Jordan Luplow drove in three runs, including a two-run double in the eighth inning after C Taylor Gushue's RBI-single broke the tie. RF Michael Suchy enjoyed a huge day at the plate, belting a game-tying two-run home run in the seventh and plating Bradenton's last two runs with a double to left in the eighth.
Fort Myers battled back against RHP Henry Hirsch (W, 2-3) in the ninth inning. The Miracle scored four times and loaded the bases with one out. RHP Luis Heredia earned his ninth save by inducing a game-ending double play on a hard grounder to 2B Kevin Kramer. Tucker made an athletic turn leaping on his throw from the second base bag.
The Marauders led 4-1 after six innings, but home runs by Tray Vavra and T.J. White off RHP Tate Scioneaux flipped the script in the seventh. Vavra's two-run blast and White's three-run shot gave Fort Myers a brief 6-4 lead.
RHP Sam Street pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Borden. He struck out three and allowed just one hit.
