Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, FL (June 7, 2006) - There will be a Dr. in the house and like any good concert this one will have lots of "Rhythm" as Miracle Baseball will showcase Atlanta Rhythm Section and Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer during Legends of Rock 'N' Roll XIII presented by House Wall Garage System and OLZ 95.3 on Saturday, July 22.

Fans can enjoy the Miracle vs. the Palm Beach Cardinals game and the concert, for $14. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m., game beginning at 5:05 p.m. and the concert will follow after a brief intermission.

Atlanta Rhythm Section put out 15 albums of excellent original material and consistently put on entertaining live shows, both of which helped establish a broad if not huge fan base. They were a major player in the Southern Rock scene and were paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers, carrying the mantle of "Southern Rock" in the late 70s. The band attained acclaim and popular appeal with their album "A Rock and RollAlternative" in December 1976. The first single off the album "Neon Nites" nearly reached the Top 40, but it was the next single "So Into You," that proved to be their breakthrough. It rose to number seven on the charts and was a staple of rock radio during the summer of 1977. The album made it to the Top 10 on the charts and went gold. Champagne Jam, released in 1978, was the breakthrough album that marked the zenith of music-making, critical support and popular acclaim for ARS. The album went into the Top 10 and went platinum. They released the album Underdog in 1979 and the two singles "Do It or Die" and "Spooky" made it to the Top 20 as the album went gold. ARS was elected to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1996.

Ray Sawyer, the spirited eye patched lead singer of the group Dr. Hook is known for their soulful and sometimes comic vocals that fronted the bands breakthrough to the "Cover of the Rolling Stone" and international superstar status in the early 70s and 80s. Sawyer's trademark eyepatch was acquired following a 1967 auto accident that left him without his right eye and kept him laid back for a year. In 1968 the nucleus of Dr. Hook was formed in time to record the score to the Dustin Hoffman motion picture "Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying These Terrible Things About Me?" Accumulating 40 gold records, Sawyer has gained the confidence of a seasoned entertainer. He is well known for his hits "Sharing the Night Together," "Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk," 'When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman" and "Sylvia's Mother"

Fans can order tickets for this evening of fun, baseball and Rock n' Roll by calling the Miracle front office at 239-768-4210.
