
Minor League Baseball President Coming to Frawley

Wilmington, DE - The president of Minor League Baseball, Pat O'Conner, is coming to Frawley Stadium for the Wilmington Blue Rocks' 6:35 p.m. game with the Lynchburg Hillcats on Monday, May 2. O'Conner will be joined that night by Carolina League president and treasurer John Hopkins.
O'Conner has spent 28 years in professional baseball, including the last 17 in the Minor League Baseball (MiLB) office. He joined the Minor League staff in May, 1993 as Chief Operating Officer and added the title of vice president, administration in December, 1995. O'Conner became the 11th president of Minor League Baseball when he was elected in December, 2007.
Three years later he was voted the recipient of the Alan H. Selig Mentoring Award by the Division I-A athletics directors McLendon scholarship steering committee. The award, which is named after current MLB commissioner Bud Selig, is presented annually to a person in athletics administration who has been at the forefront in creating equal opportunities for minorities in the field of athletics.
Hopkins is in his 28th season in charge of the Carolina League. It is the longest tenure of any Carolina League president by 15 years.
