Minnesota's Jawai Assigned To D-League Affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce

NEW YORK, Feb. 19, 2010 - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Nathan Jawai has been assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Minnesota's NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced today. Jawai is the 15th NBA player assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate this season.
Jawai appeared in 36 games, two starts, for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 10.8 minutes. During his rookie campaign, Jawai played six games for the Toronto Raptors and was assigned to the Toronto's 2008-09 NBA D-League affiliate Idaho Stampede. During his two assignments in Boise, Jawai averaged 11.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in 14 games.
Originally selected in the second round (41st overall) by the Indiana Pacers in the 2008 NBA Draft, Jawai was acquired by the Raptors from Indiana in July, 2008. Jawai was traded from Toronto to the Dallas Mavericks in July, 2009 before being acquired by the Timberwolves from Dallas in October, 2009.
Prior to entering the NBA Draft, Jawai played one season in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL), where he averaged 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Cairns Taipans.
Timberwolves fans can stay in step with Jawai, who will join the Skyforce this afternoon and be available for the team's weekend double-header against the Dakota Wizards in Sioux Falls, by logging onto nba.com/dleague to watch all of the Skyforce's games live, online, for free. Fans can also tune into VERSUS on Saturday Feb. 20, when Jawai is expected to play in the nationally televised game between Sioux Falls and Dakota at 11 pm CT.
