Minnesota United Carries Momentum into Midweek Match in Atlanta
September 15, 2015 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Minnesota United FC News Release
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Tuesday, September 15th, 2015) -- Minnesota United (6W-4T-2L, 22pts.) extended its unbeaten streak to six games on Saturday in a 3-1 victory over the Carolina RailHawks. The Loons will look to carry that momentum into a midweek tilt against the Atlanta Silverbacks (5W-3T-4L, 18ts). Kickoff from Silverbacks Park is set for 6:30 CDT - fans can watch all the action live on ESPN3.
It would be easy to overlook Tuesday's match. The Loons are coming off an epic come-from-behind win on Saturday against the Carolina RailHawks that lifted United to second in the overall standings, and have a crucial match against the New York Cosmos Saturday. But a win in Tuesday's match against the Atlanta Silverbacks would move Minnesota United within three points of the league leaders.
Minnesota United is three points off first in the Fall Season standings and six points short of the lead in the Combined standings. Capturing 13 of a possible 15 points in the last five matches, United is the hottest team in the NASL.
Minnesota has scored in 22 straight matches, including an NASL record 18-straight league matches ahead of this Tuesday's fixture. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CDT in Atlanta. You can catch the match live on ESPN 3 or join United for the official watch party at 508 Bar + Restaurant.
