Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC of the NASL today announced that Marc Dos Santos, Head Coach of the Fury since its founding last year, will be leaving the club at the end of the current NASL season to pursue a coaching opportunity with a Major League Soccer (MLS) organization. The Fury have given permission to the MLS organization to enter into contract discussions with Dos Santos.
"It's the nature of the sport," said Fury FC President, John Pugh. "Marc has done a great job for us, other clubs have noticed and he is moving on with the intention of moving up to higher levels of the game. We thank Marc for his two seasons of service to Ottawa Fury FC and wish him well in the future."
Under Dos Santos, Fury has risen to the top of the 2015 Fall Season standings with 8 matches left to secure a first ever playoff berth. The team's overall record (including Spring Season) this year is 9 wins, 9 draws and 4 losses. In the team's first season under Dos Santos, Fury went 7-6-14.
"I think we've put together something very special here in Ottawa," said Dos Santos. "I'd like to thank John Pugh and the ownership group for giving me the opportunity to be part of it. Thanks also to all Fury and OSEG staff, and a special thanks to Ottawa/Gatineau fans. I know the franchise is in great shape for the future."
"Marc has led us to point where a playoff spot in our second year is a distinct possibility and we are totally focused on reaching them. Our rapidly growing fan base has given the team fantastic support and our objective is to reward them with post-season play," said Pugh.
Fury FC's search for a new head coach is now underway. "We have an incredible new stadium, a very competitive team, great owners and strong supporters," said Pugh. "Head coach of the Ottawa Fury is a very attractive position."
