Minnesota Lynx Set 2008 Training Camp Roster

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team's 2008 training camp roster. The training camp roster consists of 15 newcomers, led by the No. 3 overall selection in the 2008 WNBA Draft Candice Wiggins, as well as Anna DeForge, who signed as a free agent after two seasons with the Indiana Fever. The Lynx also feature eight returning players, topped by two-time WNBA All-Star Seimone Augustus.
The 2008 Lynx roster also features the return of center Vanessa Hayden-Johnson, who missed the 2007 season after giving birth to her first child, daughter Zyon Brianna Johnson.
Along with Wiggins and DeForge, the 15 new additions to the Lynx roster are highlighted by 2008 WNBA Draft picks Nkolika (Nicky) Anosike (second round) and Charde Houston (third round), as well as veteran forward Kristen Rasmussen, who was acquired in an offseason trade from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for forward Tamika Raymond.
Eight players will miss the start of training camp due to overseas commitments, including Augustus, DeForge, Hayden-Johnson, Nicole Ohlde, Rasmussen, and Tiffany Stansbury. Wiggins and Lindsey Harding will also miss the start of training camp while competing with the U.S. National Team in China. Both players are expected to be the first of the late arrivals to come to camp around May 1.
Lynx training camp opens Sunday, April 20, with media availability beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the team's practice facility at the Target Center.
The Lynx tip off the 2008 10th Anniversary Season on Sunday, May 18, against the Detroit Shock at 5 p.m. at Target Center.
The Lynx may carry up to 18 players on their training camp roster until April 29 before reducing it to 15 players for the remainder of camp. The final roster cut-down date for the regular season's 11-player active roster is May 16. Teams may also place up to two players on the Inactive List.
