Minnesota Lynx Forward Napheesa Collier Named to 2023 All-WNBA First Team

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA announced today that Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has been named to the All-WNBA First Team.

This marks Collier's second All-WNBA Team honors and her first First Team Recognition (Second Team in 2020). She becomes the 12th Lynx player to receive All-WNBA First Team honors and the first since Sylvia Fowles in 2017.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Collier averaged 24.7 points (fourth in the league), 8.5 rebounds (seventh in the league), 1.6 steals (ninth in the league) and 11.7 points in the paint (second in the league). She totaled 796 points, 313 rebounds, 94 assists, 61 steals and 43 blocks.

This year marked Collier's third All-Star appearance where she went on to amass 20 points on 8-of-11 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc. She added six rebounds, two assists and a steal for Team Steward. She is the seventh Lynx player to be named an All-Star three or more times, joining Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore, Rebekkah Brunson, Lindsay Whalen and Katie Smith in this feat. Collier was also named the Western Conference Player of the Week twice this season, becoming the first Lynx player to be selected multiple times in a season since Maya Moore was chosen twice in 2018 and fifth Lynx player overall.

Collier led Minnesota to consecutive wins against Dallas on August 22 and 24. On August 22, she ended the game with 29 points, on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 36:39 minutes. This marked her fourth career game totaling 25+ points/5+ rebounds/3+ steals with only two Lynx players tallying more such games. Collier once again led Minnesota over Dallas on August 24, where she had a game-high 25 points on 8-of-17 from the field and 9-of-11 from the line, her 11th 25+ point game of the season (17th career). She added seven rebounds, two assists, a career-high-tying four steals and three blocks and became only the second Lynx player to tally 25+ points/5+ rebounds/4+ steals/3+ blocks. She was the first player in the WNBA this season and only 10th in WNBA history to have such a game. She became only the third player in league history to have consecutive games of 25+ points/7+ rebounds/3+ steals.

On September 3, Collier ended the game against Phoenix with 22 points on 8-of-20 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line, a team-high 16 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 35:51 minutes of action. This marked her second straight 20+ point/15+ rebound game (second career), becoming the second Lynx player to have multiple such career games. She's the only player in franchise history and sixth in the WNBA history to do so in consecutive games after doing so against Atlanta on September 1. This game additionally marked Collier's eighth 20+ point/10+ rebound game of the season (15th career), 10th double-double this season (29th career) and her second 20+ point/15+ rebound/3+ block game. She officially became the first player in WNBA history to have two such games consecutively after hitting 27 points/17 rebounds/4 blocks on Friday evening against the Dream.
