Saturday's Lynx Game
Lynx Sink Comets
Lynx 85, Comets 71
Seimone Augustus scored 27 points and Anna DeForge drilled a career-high five 3-pointers as the Lynx defeated Houston, 85-71, on Saturday night at Target Center. The Comets jumped ahead 12-8 on Hamchetou Maiga-Ba's jumper midway through the first before Augustus triggered a 14-4 finish that put Minnesota in front by six. Tina Thompson struck twice from long distance to whittle the Lynx' lead to 32-31 with 4:53 left in the half, but consecutive treys from Candice Wiggins and Kristen Rasmussen helped rebuild the margin to eight by halftime. Nicky Anosike's three-point play opened the third-quarter scoring to push it to 50-39, and Augustus followed with back-to-back treys. DeForge sank her fifth (and Minnesota's 10th) 3-pointer of the contest to give the Lynx their largest lead at 68-49, and Houston could get no closer than 10 down the stretch despite holding Minnesota without a field goal for more than five minutes to begin the fourth quarter. DeForge registered 17 points while Anosike finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high six
steals for the Lynx. Michelle Snow's 14 points and eight rebounds topped the Comets, with Thompson chipping in 12 points.
