Minnesota Lynx News Release

LAST NIGHT Houston 78, Minnesota 55 Home court advantage again proved pivotal in the season series between the Comets and Lynx this season, as Houston held Minnesota to a season-low 55 points in a 78-55 victory at Toyota Center. The Lynx, and rookie guard Seimone Augustus, started the contest on fire. As a team, Minnesota made 9-of-15 shots (60.0%) to start the game and held a 22-19 advantage. Augustus started 5-of-8 for 12 points but both her and the Lynx cooled off. Houston showed why it's the third-best defensive team in the league, holding Minnesota to just 12-of-41 (29.2%) from the field in the final three quarters and Augustus to 1-of-10 for three points. Augustus led the Lynx with 15 points while Svetlana Abrosimova chipped in with 12. Comets' veteran Sheryl Swoopes led all scorers with 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

UP NEXT Sacramento at Minnesota - Saturday, July 22, at Target Center (7 p.m.) The defending WNBA Champion Sacramento Monarchs have had the Lynx' number the past couple of season's, as they come to Target Center having won the last six matchups. Prior to that, Minnesota had won seven of the previous 10, most recently an 83-73 overtime win on July 11, 2004. Sacramento leads the all-time series 16-10.

THE RACE TO A MILLION The attendance of 14,793 on July 19 against Chicago was the second-largest announced Target Center crowd in franchise history (16,227 vs. Connecticut, July 14, 2004) and boosts the Lynx' season average to 6,780 per game. It's the fifth straight year that Minnesota has hosted a weekday afternoon contest. They're drawing an average of 13,442 in those contests (topping 11,000 in all five) and have won the past four, including last year's 71-61 victory over Detroit (July 13, 2005). The Lynx' all-time home attendance now stands at 971,422; they need to average 5,716 over their remaining five home dates to reach the one-million mark.

LYNX WATCH PARTIES Now Lynx fans won't have to miss Lynx games, even when they are on the road.
