Minnesota Lynx Center Sylvia Fowles and Guard Odyssey Sims Named WNBA All-Star Reserves

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA announced this afternoon that Lynx center Sylvia Fowles and guard Odyssey Sims were voted to the pool of reserve players for AT&T WNBA All-Star 2019 by WNBA head coaches. This will be the sixth time (third straight) Fowles has been selected as an All-Star (third as a member of the Lynx) and the first such honor for Sims in her six-year career. The 16th WNBA All-Star Game will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 27 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. ABC will televise the game live at 2:30 p.m. CT.
This year marks the eighth consecutive time the Lynx have had multiple representatives at the All-Star Game (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018). Minnesota now has the second-longest active streak with multiple All-Stars behind Phoenix (10 straight All-Star Games).
In her 12th season, Fowles is averaging 14.2 points on a club-best 58.9% shooting, 10.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. She currently leads the WNBA in field goal accuracy and ranks second in rebounding. Last night's performance (14 points and 13 rebounds) was her 158th career double-double (66th with the Lynx), surpassing Lisa Leslie for the most in WNBA history. Fowles is additionally the WNBA all-time leader in field goal percentage (59.3%) and ranks fourth all-time in rebounding (3201).
Sims is averaging a team-high 15.7 points on 39.6% shooting, a career-high 3.8 rebounds and a team- and career-best 5.4 assists. She ranks eighth in the WNBA in scoring (15.7 ppg), eighth in assists (5.6 apg), eighth in free throws made (51) and third in minutes (32.9 mpg). The six-year pro out of Baylor is the only player in the WNBA this season to rank in the top-10 in both points and assists. Sims' season has been highlighted by her performance on July 6 at Connecticut when she led all scorers with 21 points, adding a season-high eight assists to become the third Lynx player to be credited with eight or more assists in three straight games (Noelle Quinn, 2007; Lindsay Whalen, 2012).
