Miners Top Boulders, 3-2
May 18, 2019 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New York Boulders News Release
Seven Rockland Boulders combined to allow just three runs but it wasn't enough as the Sussex County Miners grabbed a 3-2 victory at Palisades Credit Union Park.
Sussex posted single runs in the second and third innings but the hosts rallied to tie in the bottom of the third on Grant Heyman's two-run single. That score held up until Brandon Downes came home with the decisive run in the eighth on an infield error.
Kevin Grendell took the win for the Miners with Ryan Newell earning his second save in as many games, while reliever James Mulry took the loss. The series wraps up with a double-header in Sussex on Sunday before the Boulders return home to start a three-game set against the Ottawa Champions starting on Tuesday night.
