
Miners Ride Sullivan's Outing for Win

Marion, IL - Miners starting pitcher Richard Sullivan pitched seven strong innings by recording eight strikeouts and giving up two hits to earn his first win as a Miner. The Miners defeated the Windy City ThunderBolts 1-0 and won their first series of the 2013 season.
Windy City only registered two hits throughout the entire contest and left a total of six guys on base. Sullivan only real trouble was in the second inning as he allowed the first two hitters on but retired the side afterwards.
The Miners scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jason Ganek reached base to begin the inning when Weller hit him with a pitch. Cannon Lester hit a base hit with two outs to advance Ganek to third base but Ganek scored on a throwing error by ThunderBolts rightfielder Andrew Brauer.
Drew Bailey tossed a scoreless eighth inning, recording a strikeout. Brandon Cunniff earned his second save of the season, allowing one walk and striking out two batters.
The Miners and ThunderBolts wrap up the series tomorrow night at 5:05 pm. The Miners will send RHP Blake Nation to the mound against ThunderBolts RHP Travis Strong.
