Evan Anundsen pitched six strong innings and Goose Kallunki drove in three runs as the Slammers
knocked off Traverse City by a score of 5-2 on Opening Night. The Beach Bums took a 1-0 lead in the
top of the fourth. The Slammers would respond in a big way in the home half of the frame. With one
away, Nate Wilder singled and was moved over to third by a Michael Wing double. Jerod Yakubik tied
up the game with a RBI single. Seth Schwindenhammer hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 ballgame and
Goose Kallunki drove in the third run of the inning on a RBI single. The Beach Bums would get one run
back in the top of the fifth, but the Slammers would add two big insurance runs off the bat of Kallunki
in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-2 ballgame. The Slammers bullpen closed things down. Shawn
Kale picked up three punch-outs in the eighth and Jacob Sanchez recorded his first professional save.

News and Notes...
For Starters...
Chuck Lofgren takes the mound tonight for Joliet. Lofgren, 27, was a fourth round selection of the
Cleveland Indians in the 2004 MLB draft out of Serra High School in San Mateo, California. Lofgren's
decorated professional career includes being named the starting pitcher for the 2006 Carolina League
All-Star Game. Lofgren followed that up by being named to the United States team for the 2007 All-
Star Futures Game. The United States roster that year also included the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Matt
Garza and Justin Upton. He pitched for the Cleveland organization from 2004-2009, the Milwaukee
organization from 2009-2010 and the San Francisco organization from 2010-2011. Last season, Lofgren
pitched for the Amarillo Sox of the American Association. Most recently, he was with the Brisbane
Bandits of the Australian Baseball League. Lofgren has appeared in a total of 47 games at the Triple-A
level during his professional career.
They gone!
The Slammers' pitching staff struck out 14 batters last night, tying the team record for most strikeouts
in one game.
An unexpected save...
RHP Jacob Sanchez made his first professional relief appearance last night and earned his first pro
save.
Improving...
If the Slammers win tonight it would be their second home win against the Beach Bums this season.
They only beat Traverse City once at Silver Cross Field all of last year.
Gooooose...
Goose Kallunki picked up 3 RBI yesterday in his Slammers debut. He had 13 in affiliated ball last year.
A new era...
The Slammers enter the 2013 campaign with an entirely new coaching staff and an almost completely
new roster. Manager Mike Breyman enters his first year as the team's skipper while Eric Coleman and
Dave Garcia will serve as the team's new pitching and hitting coaches respectively. All three have
experience coaching in the Frontier League and Breyman is a former Frontier League Coach of the
Year. Coleman has managerial experience in the league with Oakland County. Meanwhile, only six
players remain from the 2012 team (Ben Hewett, who played the first part of the year with Joliet,
Kyle Maunus, Chase Doremus, Jacob Sanchez, Mike Barsotti and David Christensen). Only Maunus and
Hewett remain from the 2011 championship squad.
Injury Report...
OF David Christensen (groin) and LHP David Jensen (shoulder) are currently on the Injured List for
Joliet.
Transaction Wire...
The Slammers signed RHP Justin Erasmus on Wednesday and placed Christensen on the DL.
