Boomers Rally to 3-0 Start

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning helped the Schaumburg Boomers improve to 3-0 on the young season in a 6-5 comeback win over the Washington Wild Things on Saturday night.

Washington took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning before the Boomers were able to take the lead against closer Orlando Santos, batting around. Schaumburg posted just three hits in the entire game entering the frame before striking five in the inning. Chad Mozingo poked a two-out single to score Craig Hertler and bring the Boomers within 4-3. Brian McConkey handed Schaumburg the lead with a two-run triple to right and Sean Mahley capped the frame with an RBI single. Al four runs came with two outs.

Dexter Price earned the win in relief with James Jones holding off Washington by posting a strikeout with the tying run at third in the ninth. Cody Griebling started and worked six innings with five strikeouts in a no decision. Hertler finished 2-for-2 at the plate with

The Boomers (3-0) are back in action on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against the Washington Wild Things. RHP Joe Parsons, a converted reliever, will make his first pro start against RHP Shawn Blackwell. Sunday is the first Family Sunday this season.
