New Jersey Jackals News Release
Sussex County finished off the sweep of New Jersey as they downed the Jackals by the score of 5-2 in game two of the twinbill. The Miners have now won seven consecutive games and lead the Can-Am League by six games over Quebec with a record of 42-19.
After two scoreless innings to start off the contest, Sussex County jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third as RF Breland Almadova (pictured) came home from third base on a wild pitch. The Miners increased their advantage to 5-0 in the fourth as they plated four runs via an 1B Audy Ciriaco two-run double, a run producing single from CF Jayce Ray and a Ray steal of home plate. The score would stay that way until the seventh when the Jackals scored a pair of runs to round out the scoring.
Ciriaco went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs while Almadova contributed two hits, a run and his league leading 32nd stolen base of the season.
Sussex County starting pitcher Cory Jones tossed a complete game and earned his seventh win of the season. Jones gave up two unearned runs on six hits and struck out four batters.
