Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants announced on Friday that two key members of their 2010 division title team are back in 2011. Outfielder Gus Milner and pitcher Brandon Rapoza will both return for their second season with the club.

Milner provided solid offense for the Pheasants in 2010. He batted .261 with six home runs and 39 RBI. With his speed, Milner tied for a team-best five triples and swiped 15 bases. He finished the season strong, hitting .288 with two home runs and 14 RBI in the month of August. A native Wilminton, N.C., the Philadelphia Phillies drafted Milner in 2006. He steadily climbed their ranks to reach their Class AAA affiliate in 2009.

The right-handed Rapoza quickly established himself in 2010 as the Pheasants' setup man. He regularly paved the way for Sioux Falls' all-star closer, Aaron Cotter. Rapoza finished second on the team with a 2.65 ERA and allowed a run in just eight of 36 appearances. In 37 1/3 innings, he struck out 22 batters against just nine walks. He also collected three saves. Rapoza was a 2008 draft pick of the Milwaukee Brewers and played at their rookie and Class A levels before joining the Pheasants. His home is St. Augustine, Fla.

The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants are members of the American Association, a 14-team independent professional baseball league playing its sixth season this summer. Season, group and suite tickets are now available by calling (605) 333-0179 or visiting www.sfpheasants.com.
